Biography
I have been drawn to two things my entire adult life; spirituality and music. Spirituality has led me to many questions. Who is God? What is God’s relationship to me? What is my relationship to God? How do I move through this world as a spiritual being? I have found that music has led me to a deeper understanding of my spirituality. Many years ago when my wife and I started dating she gave me a poster. The poster had a photograph of a glass heart resting on the keys of a piano. The heart seems to be magnifying the keys. Below the keys there is a caption that reads, "Music is heard with the ears, understood with the heart." At its best music can be transcendent. It can touch us in ways that move us beyond the ordinary. It has been said that music is the universal language. I believe each of us has the capacity to understand that language in our own way.
Before I was born my grandparents gave my parents the money to buy me a piano. So I guess you could say that I was destined to play. I began playing when I was six years old and have been playing ever since. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity that was given me. When I started composing music I could not have foreseen the spiritual journey that I would eventually be taken on. My spiritual and musical journeys have come together in contemplative piano. For me the music I compose has become a reflection and meditation on the power of God’s love. My hope is that it can touch you in the same way. –
